For DTG (Direct to Garment) printing, Printeez offers two ink underbase options that affect how colors appear on the final printed garment. The underbase is a layer of white ink applied beneath your artwork colors to ensure vibrancy on dark or colored fabrics.
Accessing Ink Underbase Settings
The ink underbase option appears in the Design Tool left panel when DTG is selected as the decoration method. It is typically located in the print options area near the bottom of the panel.
Standard (with White Ink Underbase)
Standard mode applies a white ink underbase beneath your artwork before printing the colors on top. This is the recommended setting for most designs, especially on dark garments. The white base ensures that all colors print accurately and vibrantly, regardless of the fabric color.
No White Ink
No White Ink skips the white underbase and prints your artwork colors directly onto the fabric. This option is suited for designs intended to print on white or very light-colored garments, or for designs intentionally meant to blend with the fabric color. Without a white base, colors may appear more muted or transparent on dark garments.
Which Should I Choose?
- Dark garments: use Standard (with white ink underbase)
- White or light garments: either option works; No White Ink can produce a softer, more vintage look
- Designs with transparent or faded effects: use No White Ink for an intentional bleed-through look
